Donald Trump declared that the United States of America “ended the war with Iran today” and that a historic agreement has been reached, according to which Tehran officially acknowledges that it will never possess nuclear weapons.
Trump made these statements during a virtual rally in support of Senate candidate Barry Moore, emphasizing that negotiations have been successfully concluded.
“I don’t know if you heard, but today we ended the war with Iran. They agreed to never have nuclear weapons, which is what we insisted on. Today we settled accounts with Iran. People will start coming home very soon,” he told his supporters.
The US president stressed that the agreement is practically complete and that it meets all of Washington’s demands, including the imminent return of US soldiers home. He singled out one element of the negotiations related to restrictions on Tehran.
“The most important thing is that there will be no nuclear weapons in Iran. That means that they will not only not develop them, but they will not buy them,” Trump explained, adding, “they had a clause that they would not develop weapons. I asked them, ‘What about the purchase?’ They said that was not included. Two days later, they accepted that too. We got everything we wanted.”
These optimistic statements follow Trump’s previous announcements that the official signing of the agreement to end the conflict could take place as early as this weekend in Europe.
Earlier, he had told reporters that the agreement would bring immediate economic and geopolitical benefits, especially in terms of global shipping lanes.
“The Strait of Hormuz will be officially opened as soon as we sign the agreement. That could happen very soon, maybe over the weekend in Europe. I won’t be able to be there, but Vice President JD Vance and a few other people will be there,” Trump declared.
However, while Washington is presenting this as a diplomatic victory, there is still no official confirmation from the Iranian side that a final agreement has been reached or that all the conditions mentioned have been accepted.
We recall that the situation was previously on the verge of escalation. Trump canceled at the last moment the planned military strikes and bombings on Iran, after receiving confirmation that negotiations had been raised to the highest level of the Iranian leadership. /Telegraph/
