United States President Donald Trump has stated that negotiations with Iran have reached the final stage and that a significant agreement between the two countries could be signed within a few days, possibly as early as the weekend.
In a public statement, he said that a “major agreement” has been reached and that the document is now in the final stages of preparation.
According to him, the parties have made significant progress in the talks and the finalization of the agreement is expected to happen very soon.
“The document is in its almost final stage and the signing could be accomplished within a few days,” said the 79-year-old, expressing optimism for the conclusion of the diplomatic process.
He claimed that the signing ceremony will take place in Europe and that US Vice President JD Vance will also attend.
Trump added that immediately after the signing of the agreement, the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important maritime corridors for global oil and gas transport, which has been at the center of recent tensions in the Persian Gulf, will be reopened.
The American leader also announced that he had briefed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the developments. Both countries are considered important regional actors and are close followers of the security situation in the Middle East.
Trump’s statements come at a time of high tensions between Washington and Tehran, following the escalation of the conflict in the region and concerns about the security of international sea lanes. /Telegraph/
