French President Emmanuel Macron has supported the agreement reached between the US and Iran, which aims to end the conflict, but has acknowledged that it will not immediately solve all the problems in the region.
Commenting on the developments, he said the agreement could help stop further increases in global energy prices, curb the loss of life in Lebanon and prevent the “collapse of the entire region.”
“We have a humanitarian, political and economic responsibility. This agreement, which ends the conflict in the Strait of Hormuz and in Lebanon, is a good thing. I support it,” the French leader declared.
Macron called on all parties involved, including Iran, Hezbollah and Israel, to stop the fighting and not allow the clashes to return, skynews writes.
“Fighting must not start again by either side. We must have peace,” the French president said.
However, Macron warned that the agreement is not a solution to every problem and that risks still exist.
“Does this solve every problem? No. Are there risks? Yes, as in every situation,” he said, adding that the international community should continue to pressure and support this process.
According to Macron, the main goal should be to achieve peace and return the region to a path of stability and economic development. /Telegraph
