Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said he plans to resign from his post within three or four months, perhaps even sooner.
The statement was made during an interview on Radio Belgrade, N1.rs reports.
“I have started packing the books in the Presidency. I have a lot of books and I am thinking about where to put them,” Vučić said, hinting that he is preparing to leave office.
Speaking about the possibility of early elections, he said that they will be held within a few months and that he does not want to talk about “shortening the mandate”, but about complete resignation from the presidential office.
Vučić added that he is thinking every day about the possibility of running for prime minister and that important political decisions will be made soon.
This is not the first time the Serbian president has mentioned resignation. In May, he also stated that he could leave office before the end of his term, noting that in the event of resignation, the Serbian Constitution stipulates that presidential elections must be held within 90 days. /Telegraph/
