Flights from Turkey to Russia have been hit by numerous cancellations and delays over the past 24 hours, with around 80 flights affected at Moscow airports.
Dozens of Russian tourists stranded in Antalya have been waiting for hours to return to Russia.
Some of them said they had been waiting at the airport for nearly 10 hours waiting for their flight to Moscow, while departures continue to be disrupted.
Pegasus Airlines has stated that the situation is related to airspace restrictions.
“We don’t know what to expect; the Turkish side is not allowing departures,” the company said in a statement.
Even Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed this.
“We are receiving information that the first airlines have begun to refuse to operate flights to Russian airports, following our announcement about the threat from drones, which objectively exists in Russian airspace. This is the appropriate and completely logical reaction to the existing facts, to everything that is caused by the war that Putin does not want to end,” he said.
So far, full details have not been provided on the reason for the restrictions, while the situation has caused uncertainty among travelers.
Delays and cancellations have led more and more Russian travelers to raise questions about developments taking place in the region’s airspace. /Telegraph/
