At least 10 people have been killed and around 60 others injured in a powerful explosion at a military facility in Viacha, in the La Paz department of Bolivia, local media report.
Defense Minister Ernesto Justiniano announced that 52 civilians were among the wounded.
According to him, the explosion occurred in an area of the facility where pyrotechnic equipment was stored, Reuters writes.
Emergency forces and rescue teams have responded to the scene, while authorities have launched investigations to determine the causes of the incident.
Initially, Minister Justiniano had called for caution regarding reports of casualties, stressing that the death toll would not be officially made public without being fully confirmed.
