Kosovo captain Amir Rrahmani has been one of Napoli’s standout figures this season, becoming a pillar of the defence under coach Antonio Conte as the team won the Serie A title.
In a close race with Inter until the last round, Napoli managed to pull through despite not being considered a favorite at the start of the season. The Pristina native excelled in all 38 Serie A matches, contributing not only in the back, but also in the attacking phase with one goal and three assists.
Napoli’s extraordinary defender, Rrahmani, in an interview with Telegrafi, spoke about the championship title, which is his second with this club, working with a coach like Antonio Conte, but also about Kosovo, and the matches he plays for the World Cup qualifiers.
Initially, the Dardanian captain focused on the success in the Italian championship, saying that the title in the last round was exciting and makes it more special.
“Of course, this is an extraordinary success that we have achieved and of course I am very happy that I have achieved it with the performances that I have had and have helped the team to achieve this great success.”
“This season has been extremely interesting until the last match and made the championship title even more special,” Amir Rrahmani initially told Telegraf.
A question could not be missing for the coach, now champion again, this time with Napoli, where our defender also plays, after those with Juventus and Inter, Antonio Conte.
Rrahmani stated that Conte brings great energy, but also demands the maximum and for this reason there is no shortage of successes.
“Coach Conte brought a new spirit and energy to the team and working with him has been extraordinary. He is a coach who always demands the maximum and I believe that this has also brought the championship title. Of course, the work we have done this season was ultimately crowned with the championship title,” declared the Napoli defender.
Rrahmani was named the best defender in Serie A by the CIES (International Centre for Sports Studies) a few days ago, and the fourth best in the world – a huge achievement for him.
He is also the first Albanian footballer in history to win the Serie A title twice, in the 2022/23 and 24/25 seasons, after Riza Lushta with Juventus (1939-40), Naim Kryeziu with Roma (1941-42) and Elseid Hysaj with Napoli (2022-23), have only won it once each. This makes him proud and adds that it is a great achievement to win two Serie A titles.
“Two Serie A championship titles with Napoli is certainly a great achievement for me and I feel proud that I have managed to write my name in the club’s history. It is a special emotion to win the Serie A championship title, especially in the last match of the season, which makes it even more special,” declared the Kosovo captain.
Rrahmani, who will be absent from Kosovo’s June matches after coach Franco Foda rested him, remains focused on the official challenges that await him in September.
Kosovo plays in the same group as Sweden, Slovenia and Switzerland, where the captain admits that it is not an easy group, but they will take the matches one by one.
“We are in a not easy group as all the national teams are strong and there is no easy opponent. Each national team aims to get the most out of this group and we will seek to do the same. We will take the matches one by one and the goal always remains positive results,” concluded Rrahmani.
Rrahmani was in the Serie A team of the season by many media and statistics companies, when one of them with an average rating of 7.27, SofaScore, placed Rrahmani in the lineup, as he also proved his exceptional skills in duels – 4.82 duels won per match (62%) and 3.37 aerial duels won (69.6%). /Telegraph /
