An incident was recorded a day before the anniversary of the Croatian military and police operation “Storm” (Oluja).
A reader of the Croatian portal Index.hr filmed two people setting fire to the Serbian flag on an overpass near the town of Otočac.
According to the released footage, two people dressed in black and with their faces covered climbed over the overpass fence, where they initially placed the Serbian flag. Moments later, they set the flag on fire, while the entire incident was recorded on video.
A banner with the inscription “Thank you for everything, we are free people, Storm ’95” was also placed in the same place.
The message refers to Operation “Storm”, which in Croatia is considered a symbol of the liberation of the territory, while in Serbia it is commemorated as a tragic event for the Serbian population that fled Croatia during and after the operation.
The Index.hr portal reports that it has addressed a request to the Croatian police for information regarding the incident and to learn whether the perpetrators have been identified or whether an official investigation has been opened. The authorities’ response is expected to be published as soon as it is available.
So far, there is no information about any arrests, while the full circumstances of the incident remain the subject of police investigations. /Telegraph/
